According to the Telegraph, Chelsea is aiming to borrow a striker from the Saudi Pro League in January. The preferred name is Karim Benzema. The 36-year-old has scored 354 goals in 648 appearances for Real Madrid. The French star only arrived at Al-Ittihad last summer on a free transfer. Benzema has scored 15 goals in 24 matches in Saudi.
The second name targeted by Chelsea is Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian striker has not achieved the same success as Benzema since arriving in Saudi. The 32-year-old star signed a 3-year contract worth £300,000/week with Al-Ahli after leaving Liverpool.
Firmino scored a hat-trick on his debut but has not contributed any more goals in 18 appearances since then. He also lost his place in the starting lineup and his captaincy.
Firmino has been linked with Sheffield United and Fulham. However, Firmino's salary is a big problem preventing this deal from becoming a reality.
Firmino scored 2 goals in 16 matches against Chelsea, all coming in the Premier League in the 2019/20 season. Meanwhile, Benzema had up to 6 goals against Chelsea in just 6 matches. The highest point is the hat-trick at Stamford Bridge in the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 2022.
Chelsea are also linked with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. However, these deals cost too much money and are difficult to do in January.
