Chelsea recalled midfielder Cesare Casadei from Leicester in January this year, the reason given was because of Enzo Fernandez's injury.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea's intention is for Casadei to be in the first team for the remainder of the season instead of going out on loan again. A source from Gazzetta dello Sport said that Enzo Fernandez has been having back problems in recent weeks, and that is why the Blues decided to call back Casadei.
The Argentine missed the trip to Wolves on Christmas Eve, but he returned just a week later. The World Cup champion has not yet fully recovered and is having to endure pain while competing.
The fact that Romeo Lavia missed the first four months of the season and then suffered a thigh injury in his club debut in December is also one of the reasons why Pochettino needs more options in the midfield.
